Merrin is designed so its core AI operates on your device. Your conversations, journal entries, memories, transcripts, and generated insights are intended to stay on your device during normal local use. Some features do use the internet — for example downloading AI models, processing purchases, retrieving configuration, and optional diagnostics or online services.
Core functionality such as conversation, journaling, search, and memory is designed to keep working without an internet connection after the required AI models are installed. Initial model downloads and purchases need an internet connection.
Yes. Inside the app you can view what Merrin remembers, edit or delete individual memories, exclude individual conversations, disable memory, and export or delete your stored data. Because this data lives on your device, deleting it in the app is immediate and permanent, and we do not keep a server-side copy.
Yes. You can do it at any time, without contacting us. Open Settings in Merrin and choose the delete or reset option to erase all locally stored data, including conversations, journal entries, memories, transcripts, insights, and downloaded AI models. Individual items can be deleted as you go. Merrin does not require an account, so there is nothing to close or deactivate. Deletion is immediate and permanent on your device, and uninstalling the app also removes its local data.
No. Merrin is not funded by selling your personal conversations, journal entries, or memories for advertising, and it does not use that content for targeted ads. Optional analytics — enabled only with consent where required — may record events such as app opens, model downloads, or crashes, not your journal or conversation text.
Free includes text conversations, basic voice conversations, a manual journal, and private local storage. Pro adds automatic journaling, long-term memory, search by meaning, and personal insights. Exporting your data is available on every plan.
Paid plans are purchased through the native in-app purchase systems on the Apple App Store or Google Play, which process your payment. After purchase, the store's entitlement information is linked to your user identifier so Pro features unlock and can be restored if you reinstall the app or move to another supported device. We never receive your full payment card details. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them in the platform's subscription settings, and refunds, billing periods, and taxes follow the relevant store's policies and your local consumer law.
Merrin is available on supported iOS and Android devices. Because AI models run on your device, quality and available features can vary with device hardware and storage.
No. Merrin is built for reflection, journaling, and self-awareness — not medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and it is not an emergency service. AI output can be inaccurate, so use your own judgement.
On-device means the language model runs on your phone instead of a remote server, so your conversations stay local during normal use and core features work without a connection. For personal conversation, journaling, and recall, on-device models are capable and private. Very large cloud models can still handle more knowledge-heavy tasks, but they need your content sent to a server. Quality can vary with your device's hardware and storage.
